Fire Safety of Lithium-Ion Batteries

In the final episode of the Let's Talk! podcast, Professor Ya-Ting T. Liao addresses the fire risks related to lithium-ion batteries and describes her ongoing research efforts to characterize lithium-ion battery fire for the development of a robust numerical simulation model. She also provides her insights on the behavior of lithium-ion battery fire under microgravity environments.

Liao is the associate professor and faculty director of the UL Fire and Combustion Laboratories at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). She also leads the Computational Fire Dynamics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at CWRU.
