The Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) has launched the new Materials and Products (MaP) Database, an interactive, web-based repository populated with directly measured thermo-physical properties and standard fire test data for more than 100 of the most common contemporary products and materials found in the modern built environment. Created to address knowledge gaps regarding material properties, ignition parameters, and burning behavior, the MaP Database is a single, organized source of data that elevates the baseline understanding for developing fire models.
"We're committed not only to develop this [repository], but also improving and maintaining it. If you're a fire investigator, a fire modeler, a fire researcher, or a fire protection engineer, I encourage you to go to the website [to find out more]." — FSRI Lead Research Engineer Mark McKinnon, PhD
